preliminary task

The other day, we were discussing about the foundation portfolio and what we will have to do. our teacher told us about the 2 minute film opening task we'd have to shoot and submit by the start of March. He also told us about different things to keep in mind while shooting, editing and creating sound effects. the first two minutes of the film are the most crucial part. it is where the audience either catches interest or loses it. we need to create suspense or enigma for the audience, so much that the audience forgets about everything. the premilinary shoots are an intergral part in creating refined work. hence, every week, we make a small movie clip at different places in the school premises. we are divided into groups of three or four and some of us act and some shoot. As we all know, practice makes a man perfect. our teacher instructed us to make a small clip about the protagonist chasing the antagonist. he asked us to take 12 shots in the process. our group had three people Ak...

this is such an interesting topic! The camera angle marks the specific location at which the camera is placed to take a shot. there are different camera angles. The first camera angle is high angle. A high angle shot is when the camera looks down on the character or subject from an elevated perspective. This presents characters from a perspective that makes them seem vulnerable or diminished. Now coming to low angle shot. In cinematography, a low-angle shot is a shot from a camera angle positioned anywhere below the eye line, pointing upward. It is often used to indicate a position of power - the audience is forced to look up at a character. another very commonly used angle is the eye level. An eye level shot refers to when the level of your camera is placed at the same height as the eyes of the characters in your frame. This is usually used when two people are talking to each other. directors use it to dissolve the barrier between the viewers and the story. Another angle is the d...

Non verbal communication (NVC)

Image
Non verbal communtication is something we all use unconciously. our teacher told us about the different aspects of NVC. it includes facial expressions, gaze, gestures, bodily posture, clothes and appearence, non verbal aspects of speech etc. it is important to highlight the fact that as we learn a language, we're also learning the non verbal communication that is how to communicate without actually speaking anything.NVC plays an important role in our lives as it can improve a person's ability to relate, engage and establish meaningful interactions in everyday life. Our teacher then asked us to interpret the above image taken from image and representation by nick lacey's book. this one picture is telling so much thimgs. we can interpret that its an old picture as its black and white and probably from the times when coloured photos didnt exist. it shows six men in their late 20's. they're wearing casual clothes. all of them are probably friends as their postures ar...
